Pulsa D’Nura [Death Curse] Prayer Recited Against PM Sharon

From Arutz-7:

Pulsa D’Nura Prayer Recited Against PM Sharon
Tuesday, July 26, 2005 / 19 Tammuz 5765

(IsraelNN.com) Disengagement opponents have released a message announcing that approximately twenty persons participated in a Pulsa D’Nura ceremony, last week, calling for the death of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The kabalistic prayer service was held in the Ancient Rosh Pinah Cemetery.

The report adds that participants included Rabbi Yosef Dayan from Psagot, and Michal Ben-Chorin, who explained to reporters that they called on the Angel of Death to take Mr. Sharon.

The kabalistic prayer is not a text recited by mainstream Judaism. It gained notoriety prior to the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, when the prayer was recited a number of times, resulting in widespread condemnation.

Responding to the report, Yesha Council officials released a sharp condemnatory message, deploring the prayer service, emphasizing that it is not an acceptable action even in the ongoing battle against the expulsion plan.

Pinchas, I was getting worried, because I hadn't seen an update in so long....
Very interesting, but although I'm a believer in these kind of things, I find myself sceptical that this'll work. First of all, I'm not sure who the participants are, and thus have no inkling of their halachic authority. Second, the mere act of publicizing it screams "gimmick", and could jinx the whole thing. I guess we'll have to wait and see....

It's too bad that Jewish people have to curse anyone, especially a fellow Jew. I'm definately not a supporter of Sharon, but cursing him is a bad mistake. Kaballah is an unfortunate tie to Judaism.

We should never pray for the death of another Jew - but for his enlightenment. Aaron is also wrong - Kabbalah is not an unfortunate tie for us -- it is just not supposed to be "a cup of Kaballah" with your morning muffin. There are levels and levels. We need to pray, and protest, and refuse to cooperate, and pray some more. Only our prayers, our tshuvah -- our behavior can save us now, and we can pray that this is one of the true signs of moshiach coming. Otherwise -- how to explain such a tragedy. Jew vs. Jew is worse than goyishe terrorists.
